Nip In The Air

Fall has arrived without a doubt! Hoss and the boys went fishing Monday morning,
and said the Aspen trees are already turning yellow.  They were at a mountain lake, about  9000
feet elevation. I can't wait to see those golden streaks on the sides of the mountains!  It's been very cool, 37 degrees one morning last week, and on this morning I feel like Iwant to turn on the fireplace!  I may even blanket the horses tonight, and the pastures are starting to turn brown.  We barely had a summer, it seems, but I love fall....my favorite time of the year for so many reasons:
  • Curling up on the couch with a good book, favorite cup of tea and cashmere throw
  • Big pots of soup simmering on the stove or in the crock pot
  • The aromas of pine, cinnamon, smoky wood, clove, apples and nutmeg
  • Longer rides in the cool air
  • New boots, old boots, any kind of boots!
  • Shorter days and longer nights
  • Cutting dried wild flowers from the pastures for an arrangement
  • School buses
  • Football and hockey games, where you have to bring lap blankets and something warm in a thermos.
  • Baking
  • Oversize comfy sweaters with leggings
  • New socks....I luuuurve having new socks
  • Long walks with the dogs in the pastures.
  • The season return of shows I love...SNL, The Office, 30 Rock
  • Colors of the season - Sage, gold, deep reds, rusts and browns
  • Pumpkin anything - Soup, cookies, bread, seeds - you name it.
What are your favorite things for fall?

Are you feeling fall yet, in your hometown?

Well, you summed it up beautifully. Autumn is indeed my favorite time of year too! Something hauntingly beautiful about everything fading away, and knowing it will all come back!

fall is here as well....nights are going down to the high 70's this week and today the high is a blissful 93. I know to you it doesn't seem cool, but this morning the dog is laying on the patio (BECAUSE SHE CAN!) for the first time in recent memory. For us, it's the beginning of heavenly weather. ahhhhhh.......it's our version of fall. YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!
